We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for another award, in recognition of our collaborative project to develop antimicrobial, lightweight grab poles for public transport. We’re up for the Derbyshire ‘Excellence in Collaboration’ award at the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards 2022, alongside four other great projects.
Our unique composite grab poles kill 99.9% of bacteria found on their surface and are 70% lighter than traditional steel grab poles. This means they protect the people who use them from dangerous bacterial infections such as E.coli and MRSA, as well as reducing emissions in vehicles and increasing the performance of electric vehicles. Crucially, they can also be produced at high volume (hundreds of thousands per year) and at low cost (similar to the cost of mild steel poles.)

We’ll be grilled about our award submission by a panel of judges on 14 September, and then the winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner on 11 November. Fingers crossed! The successful company will also be put forward for the regional Chamber of Commerce Awards, with a chance to compete for a national award after that. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves! For now, we’re just delighted to be in the running.
