Clean Futures Accelerator Programme: The Results!

On 30th April, our Operations Manager, Sam Donegani joined other SMEs at the ‘Demonstration Day’ event organised by BCIMO. He was showcasing the work we’ve done, in collaboration with BCIMO and Coventry University, as part of the Clean Futures Accelerator Programme (which is led by the Connected Places Catapult).

The aim of our Clean Futures project was to develop a way to join structural composite beams quickly and efficiently in high volumes, to match our structural beam manufacturing methodology. (We could already manufacture structural composite beams in 5 minutes.)

Here’s what we achieved:

  • A new simple, affordable and quick method to join our structural composite beams, which delivers what our customers need.
  • A method that uses the same materials as those used in the beams and no adhesives. This is an advantage when it comes to end of life.
  • A new patent (we’re in the process of raising one – more details soon!)

With the help of the Clean Futures project and BCIMO, we’ve also been able to review and assess our wider business strategies.

All in all, we would fully recommend this programme to SMEs looking to accelerate their route to market in the transport sector.

When we were asked by the Rail Forum to show members of the Great British Railways Transition Team and the Department for Business and Trade around our new facility, we jumped at the chance!
